The Next day we decided to go over to Wailea and go to the Beach and walk around the beautiful resorts. Walking around brought back a lot of memories when I went to Maui with my friends in 2006. We got to stay at The Grand Wailea Resort and I couldn't resist but to go back and show my friends how gorgeous the resort is.
One of the things we all wanted to do as a group was wake up at 2 am and go up to Haleakala to watch the sunrise. This was probably one of my favorite and most adventurous days. We woke up really early and got to the top of the mountain while the sun was starting to come out. By the way if you ever plan on watching the sunrise in Haleakala plan to dress very warm because it is freezing once you get up there and we were definitely not dressed appropriately for the freezing temperature. After that we beautiful hike and got to swim in the waterfall. Hawaii is just gorgeous!!!
Zip lining was also tons of fun, I was expecting it to give me more butterflies but it was worth it and our instructors were hilarious! they definitely made the experience memorable. That evening we had dinner at Duke's beach house for my besties birthday. I ordered the seafood Risotto and it was delicious! lets just say that we were pleased with the food and service.
We came home and surprised Wendy with a birthday cake!
The last activity we did was Snorkeling this was a six hour snorkel. We got to snorkel at two different locations one was Molokini and I don't remember the other location. Snorkeling was awesome! We saw dolphins and turtles. We were lucky enough to have swam with the dolphins and the turtles. The turtles were so cute and the dolphins were such showoffs it was adorable. Overall snorkeling was worth it, even though some of the boys did end up getting sea sick on the boat. That evening we surprised one of my other besties on his birthday with a nice dinner. Of course the girls were in charge of making all the food while the boys were out distracting him. It was pretty sweet, we set up the dinner at the clubhouse and had him walk in and we all jumped out and surprised him! he had no idea.
We had probably swallowed a cup of sea water by this point, our lips were numb.
The last day we decided to chill and of course go to downtown Lahaina to have some of Ulilani's Shave Ice. I still can't get over how delicious shave ice is, I'm not an ice cream lover but If we had hawaiian Shave Ice around I'd crave it all the time. The ice is so fluffy and the flavors taste exactly like what they are. I can't explain in words but its the best thing ever! If you're ever in Hawaii make sure to have some! That evening we went to a bar and danced the night away.
view from the room- so gorgeous it looks like a painting
My favorite flavor was the Haleakala sunrise(all white one) ; coconut leche, topped with sweetened condensed cream and cream mix.. ohh and thats not all I made sure to get a scoop of vanilla ice cream at the bottom for more flavor!
We thought it was our last day but unfortunately one of our connecting flights from Maui to Honolulu was delayed and because of this we missed our flight back home. By the way don't ever fly Allegient they were very rude and have a bad reputation for treating their customers unfairly. Well, we were all frustrated and annoyed we had missed our flights but this didn't stop us from having fun! We met a friendly driver that ended driving us to Waikiki from our hotel nearby the airport. We spent the whole day at the beach exploring Waikiki beach and shopping! It was crazy how different this Island was from Maui, It was like a tropical city with shops. We had tons of fun and the next morning we made sure we arrived at the airport on time to board on our returning flight. Ohhh how I miss Maui and its Shave Ice.! until next time..
